**This role will be 3 days in Summerland and 2 days in Penticton.**

Are you well organized, and a self-starter?Do you have experience working with people with disabilities to reach their professional and personal potential? We are looking for a Customized Employment Coach to provide this highly individualized service.

Current opportunity locations include: Penticton (2 days a week) and Summerland (3 days a week.)

The Customized Employment Coach (CEC) will utilize a client-centered, strength based approach, and will assist individuals to achieve one or more of the following outcomes: competitive employment, sustainable self-employment, unpaid work placements, and/or long term community attachment positions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts client meetings in various locations to observe client in multiple locations, including meetings in home
- Collects information about the job seeker’s interests, skills, environmental preferences, employment goals, and other topics related to the job seeker’s employment search
- Arranging observations in both familiar and unfamiliar settings to assess an individuals skills, abilities and considerations
- Work with the customized team and WorkBC participants receiving customized services, to assist them in attaining meaningful employment
- Meet with employers to gather information on workplace needs and negotiate unique/customized employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment
- Determine on-the-job supports that will be needed for employment placements and successful employment
- Provide Job Coaching (as needed) during work placements to promote employment success and retention
- Reporting, and daily tracking of activities in ICM (Integrated Case Management System)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum two years experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Related degree (Social Work, Business/Marketing, etc) or combination of diploma and experience with assisting individuals with disabilities find meaningful work opportunities
- Proficient with technology in a Window environment including MS office. ICM experience an asset.
- Proven ability to work effectively and achieve results with persons with cognitive, emotional, and behavioral barriers
- Knowledge of local labour market and proficient in job search strategies and skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional attitude
- Understanding of work-site supports and accommodations that may benefit individuals with disabilities
- Valid Class 5 BC drivers license and vehicle required

QUALIFICATIONS

**Required**:

- Clean Criminal Record Check (upon hiring)
- Self-starter who is highly skilled in marketing and job coaching activities for individuals with barriers to employment
- Minimum of two years’ experience working as a supported employment coach or facilitator or with individuals with significant barriers to success
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds
- Additional languages an asset
- Experience building partnerships with employers, community agencies, and other stakeholders
- Good communication skills and ability to deal with individuals with mental health and anger management issues
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and appropriate vehicle insurance
- Flexibility to travel as required
- Strong working knowledge of life skills counselling ethics, theories and the ability to exercise personal judgment
- Solid understanding of confidentiality and other professional codes of conduct
- Strong computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- A familiarity of the community services both federal and provincial and the local labour market is also essential
- Strong organizational and administrative skills and a keen eye for details required

**Education/Certification**:

- Related certificate, diploma or degree plus 2-5 years experience working with vulnerable populations, employment counselling or a combination of equivalent experience and/or training

**Salary**: $26.00-$28.00 per hour
