The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for delivering high quality programming for young children with autism spectrum disorder, (three to five years) for Autism Core Clinical Services within the Preschool/Kindergarten program - Lumenus Community Services. Working within an interdisciplinary team, the Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for co-creating and delivering curriculum to support a successful learning experience. The Early Childhood Educator will also be responsible for working in a classroom to deliver a group-based program focused on developing school-readiness skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop, plan, coordinate and implement appropriate learning activities and strategies designed to help the child reach their learning goals.
- Intake and assessment of client’s skills, abilities, interest, strength and needs (in tandem/consultation with the Manager).
- Co-develop and implement effective curriculum and guidance strategies; models, supports, mentors and guides staff.
- Oversee general operations of the classroom to ensure teaching environment is prepared and organized with appropriate materials.
- Prepare written documentation regarding children’s plans and progress as required.
- Co-create curriculum and facilitation support through modelling as needed.
- Supports team to ensure seamless program delivery.
- Contribute information and ideas to the team process.
- Supports interdisciplinary team (ABA, SLP) in the implementation of curriculum using sound clinical judgement.
- Lead classroom meetings/daily huddles.
- Ensures that all materials and equipment are maintained and classroom is tidy and safe.
- Collaborate with other team members.
- Keeping the supervisor/ Manager informed of program concerns and client progress (e.g. flagging exceptional circumstances and need for program change).
- Ensures overall health and safety of children enrolled in the program by maintaining a sanitary and safe environment and identifying children who are unwell.
- Promote and foster the integration of services within Lumenus Community Services.
- Plan, co-develop and implement high quality, play-based, inclusive early years programming for children (3 - 5 years) within an inter disciplinary frame.
- Monitor and supervise student placements as needed.
- General administrative duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE**:

- Early Childhood Education degree/diploma and a member in good standing with College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
- A minimum of 3 years direct work experience with young children (birth to 6 years) and their families
- Program coordination and Curriculum Development experience
- Experience working in a community-based setting with other program/service partnerships and systems that have a focus on children/families and prevention
- Experience working in a diverse setting
- Experience working with children with ASD is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program planning and case management
- Demonstrated knowledge in human development, community supports continuum for families, with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate activities and experiences to meet individual and group

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process
- Ability to work flexible hours; Saturdays required
- Valid and current First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid and current SMG Training (Safe Management)
