**The company**:
The organization exists to provide those with brain injury with the supports they need to overcome limitations, reconnect, rebuild, and thrive in the community. We are a registered charitable that serves community members with brain injury from mild to severe. The organization provides services in Edmonton, Drayton Valley, Edson, and Hinton.

**The Role**:
The Community Support Worker will provide one-to-one support to our clients to develop independent living skills, community engagement, and self-advocacy skills. With oversight the CAPCC and SCLS Program Coordinator, the CSW will work to implement Individual Service Plans to empower individuals with disabilities to build independence and attain goals at home and in the community.

**Responsibilities**:

- Participate in collaborative interdisciplinary team-based approach by implementing and contributing to team recommendations.
- Provide 1-to-1 support to adults with Acquired Brain Injury and Multiple Sclerosis to facilitate expansion of life skills, independence, self-advocacy, and community engagement.
- Accurately assess and report the individual’s progress on their goals.
- Promote valued roles and social connections for adults with disabilities/brain injury in the community. This includes recreation & leisure activities, volunteer or employment work.
- Encourage independence and self-accomplishment for adult clients.
- Demonstrate problem solving and time management skills in unstructured environments.
- Model socially-appropriate behavior in community settings.
- Maintain organized and detailed written communication; complete required documentation.
- Assist with wheelchair use, including Broda Chairs, and occasional two-person transfers.
- Use database to record client service plans, community contacts, other relevant information, and complete progress reports
- Conduct all day to day activities in accordance with BCC’s Mission, Vision and Values and the Code of Conduct and BCC’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.
- Adhere to high standards of ethical practice and confidentiality
- Participate as a professional, positive and supportive team member
- Provide Program information and public education on brain injury
- Any other duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Education: certificate or diploma in a human services or health field
- Experience: previous work with individuals with brain injury, cognitive disabilities, and/or vulnerable populations considered an asset
- Up-to-date and clear criminal record check
- Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle with 2 million liability insurance.
- Be physically capable of safely assisting a manual wheelchair and occasional with transfers.
- Valid emergency first aid certificate an asset.
- Experience with Group Facilitation an asset.

- Accesses resources, information and technology from other areas and uses it to analyze issues, resolve problems and improve performance

- Demonstrates client-centered values; ability to view social issues from a variety of lenses and treats individuals from all walks of life with respect, warmth and compassion

Team collaboration and independent work skills
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with staff team, clients, and other stakeholders, and takes initiative in completion of day-to-day work

High degree of professionalism
- Maintains client confidentiality, is transparent and accountable for their work, supports and acts the organization’s values, and contributes to a positive work environment.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week
