Based at the Heartland Petrochemical Complex site this position is for an Operations Technician in the PDH (Propane Dehydrogenation) plant. The Operations Technician will report directly to the PDH Shift Supervisor. The Operations Technician is required to train and qualify in the Oleflex/Fractionation Field positions and progress to the Oleflex/Fractionation console position post startup. **Key Activities and Responsibilities**:

- Improve plant performance and operating discipline.
- Follow direction from Operations Specialist in terms of sampling and plant process adjustments
- Work closely with the shift team and the Shift Supervisor to provide leadership to the shift team in the execution of operational targets, goals, and plans.
- All Operations Technician responsibilities including, but not limited to, monitoring, troubleshooting, continual improvements, daily rounds and assisting with all operational readiness planning and execution.
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with cross shift, with shift team members, and across operating areas, through verbal and written methods, including shift log books
- Operates the HPC facility from the control room console using DCS, SIS, PLC and advanced control systems available.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Power or Chemical Engineering Diploma preferred
- Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate with a preference/progression for 2nd Class Certificates.
- 10+ years Operations experience with a preference for Oleflex/Fractionation or Refinery/Upgrader
- Strong technical understanding of plant processes and equipment, maintenance practices, process safety, safety instrumented systems, chemical safety, and emergency response plans is desired.
- Strong understanding of LOTO and Permitting Process
- Preference will be given to those with an ERT Background and console experience
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills,
- Strong communication and technical writing abilities.
- Attention to detail and well-developed interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to work a rotating, 12-hour day/night shifts

**Hours**:

- Full time shift work (days/nights), 12 hour shifts, rotating 4/5/5/4
- Longer term this position will regularly rotate between console and field.
