**Vice President, Strategic Communications Practice**

**Day-to-day responsibilities for the role would include**:

- Leading the development and execution of integrated communications & media relations strategies for a roster of clients across a range of sectors including healthcare, real estate, education, energy & resource development, non-profits, and business associations.
- Providing strategic oversight on communications activities across the practice and advising team members on the development of programs and opportunities for their respective client files.
- Providing senior-level counsel to C-Suite executives on corporate communications matters, including strategic communications planning, media and stakeholder relations, executive thought leadership, and corporate reputation management.
- Serving as a trusted advisor and senior point of contact for clients in need of responsive, real-time strategies to address emerging issues and crisis communications matters.
- Building and maintaining relationships with local and national news media, editorial departments and non-traditional sources to support both proactive and reactive client objectives.
- Managing senior-level client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and creating organic business growth opportunities + Leading new business efforts via the development of proposals, strategies, RFP responses and working cross-collaboratively with other practice areas.
- Nurturing the professional development & growth of Strategic Communications team + Supporting the development of the practice via the creation and marketing of new lines of business and communications products.

**Required Skills & Experience**
- 12+ years of corporate communications experience, ideally in an agency setting, with a proven track-record of building long-term client relationships
- Ability to distill complex policy and business challenges into clear communications objectives + significant experience planning and executing results-driven, multi-channel communications strategies for high-profile clients across a diverse range of sectors
- Experience counselling C-Suite executives and business leaders through complex communications challenges and stakeholder issues.
- Ability to manage multiple direct client files while balancing senior-level business development and leadership responsibilities.
- Established relationships with news media at local and national levels + proven ability to secure coverage
- Experience developing and managing Media Training programs for all levels of corporate structures.
- Strong internal & external stakeholder relations skills.
- Strong organization & project management skills + ability to work well under pressure and inspire client/team confidence in a crisis.
- Demonstrated experience identifying and actualizing business development opportunities both within existing client mandates as well as new business and growth opportunities.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
- IABC Certification would be considered a major asset.
