We are professional, innovative, data-driven, and our goal is to find a GIS Analyst to work either remotely or in our Guelph office with our Ecology, Design, and GIS team. Dougan & Associates is a mid-sized ecological consulting & design firm based in southern Ontario that has been providing services in terrestrial biology, ecological assessment, and landscape architecture to the public and private sectors since 1981. The GIS Analyst will work in a supportive team environment on a range of small to large projects. This will involve working alongside the GIS team, project managers, and technical staff to carry out a range of core duties outlined below..

GIS Analyst

**Duties**:

- Conduct background review and/or consolidate various types of existing land-use and ecological spatial data
- Prepare data collection resources that support field data collection and storage
- Develop and implement spatial data analysis workflows related to ecological characterization, policy analysis, and/or ecological restoration/management planning
- Preparation of high-quality graphics to support technical reporting and presentations
- Provide data management support on all projects using ArcGIS software and a variety of database software (e.g., Microsoft Access and SQL)
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developing technologies as they relate to spatial data management, analysis, presentation, and interaction

**Experience**:

- Over three years of experience working directly with Esri’s ArcGIS suite of products
- Experience with high accuracy GNSS data collection, mission planning, and postprocessing
- Experience with data conversion and integration of CAD and GIS datasets
- Demonstrated experience with innovative problem-solving and on-going education, whether self-guided and/or as a team
- Experience with land cover analysis and classification methods
- Understanding of SQL queries, database development, and database maintenance
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary groups, as well as independently

**Valued Qualifications/Skills**
- Organization and time management, while working on multiple projects simultaneously and under deadline pressure
- Exhibits a strong ethic of reliability and accountability through delivering on commitments and willingness to seek clarification when needed
- Experience with coding languages (e.g., Python, Arcade) and workflow automation
- Experience performing data collection with and troubleshooting Trimble products
- Familiarity with fauna and flora of Ontario and/or training in ecology

**Seniority Level**

Intermediate; salary commensurate to experience
