We currently have an opportunity for a Full-Time Construction Operator to join our MCSnet team. Reporting to the Construction Team Lead, the Construction Operator is responsible for providing technical and field support for tower and broadband equipment infrastructure. The Construction Operator will assist the Construction Team Lead and help coordinate new tower construction, tower upgrades, and fiber optic installation while ensuring existing infrastructure conforms to MCSnet’s mandate for network health, reliability, and service excellence. The Construction Operator will ensure all company mandates are being followed as well as all industry safety requirements.
**Principle Duties & Responsibilities**
Include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrating excellent leadership qualities, team spirit and a positive attitude.
- Answering customer inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintaining knowledge on MCSnet’s products and services
- Promoting and selling MCSnet products and services.
- Following proper safety procedures and ensure fellow employees adhere to safety standards.
- Diagnosing and repairing Issues concerning infrastructure.
- Creating and scheduling work orders on a daily basis.
- Assisting with construction on site while leading the operation of construction equipment.
- Responding to emergency outages in a timely manner to minimize network outages and downtime for customers.
- Responding to on call matters in a timely manner.
- Coordinating with Infrastructure Manager and/or Network Manager to ensure emergencies are properly diagnosed and managed.
- Programming equipment onsite as needed for repair.
- Creating and closing tickets in BAMS concerning cause of an outage or service response.
- Providing suggestions for repairing issues.
**Knowledge & Skills Required (Willing to Train)**
Include but are not limited to:
- 2 years’ experience in a similar field as Utility & Telecom Construction is preferred.
- 1 year previous experience in the operation of equipment and machinery is preferred.
- High School Diploma is required, Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate is considered an asset.
- Must hold a valid Class 5 Drivers License, Class 3 or Class 1 license is preferred.
- Must be experience in the operation of commercial vehicles including towing of trailers.
- Fall Protection, H2S, First Aid, Elevated Work Platform, Ground Disturbance tickets are required.
- Must ensure industry-related safety requirements are met and certifications are kept up to date.
- Skilled in the operation of machinery with regards to tower construction and upgrades including Boom Truck, Directional Drill, Locator & Operator, Screw Pile Install, Cable Plowing, Dozer, Hydrovac, Trenching, Material Handling, Fiber Optics are required.
- Basic skills and knowledge in construction, electrical and wireless broadband equipment is required.
- Excellent analytical skills: well, organized with a strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is required.
- Demonstrates leadership, team spirit, and coordination is required.
- Strong follow-up skills to issue, until satisfactory resolution is achieved is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Customer focused with demonstrated customer relation skills are required.
- Must have a clean criminal record check.
- Class 1 drivers must be able to demonstrate proof of insurability.
