Field Equipment Technician

**Position Scope**:
Assembles, tests, and modifies prototype, build prototype parts and performs related duties, primarily in the Engineering Test Laboratory. Must be able to work independently, with significant guidance on definition of task-level details.

**Critical Success Factors**:
Strong mechanical, electrical and electronic skills. Desire for hands-on work. Detail oriented. Resourceful. Able to schedule tasks and time. Flexibility in receiving assignments.

**Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Skills**:

- Reads and understands engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, process sheets, work instructions, and schematic drawings, and received verbal instructions regarding work assignments.
- Routes and attaches wires and connectors to form circuitry and connects assembly to power supply sources. Attaches hardware and seals assemblies.
- Tests and operates units to locate defects, measure performance, determine need for adjustment, and verify specified operation.
- Repairs defective units, and replaces defective components.
- Examines parts for defects and failures.
- Assembles prototype units.
- Maintains test equipment and files.
- Assists other engineering personnel as required.

- Use of equipment: Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies

**Education**:

- Two years of engineering or mechanically related education.
- Reasoning Ability - Must be able to demonstrate problem solving using deductive and inductive reasoning skills.
