**POSITION TITLE: QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR**

**REPORTS TO: QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISOR**

**DEPARTMENT: QUALITY CONTROL**

**Position Summary**

The Quality Control Inspector works under the supervision of the Quality Control Supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to overseeing various levels of quality inspection and documentation involvement during the fabrication of projects by welding and assembly for 5Blue.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The role of the Quality Control Inspector encompasses many activities including:

- Supervision of welding procedures.
- Enforcement of established Quality Control procedures.
- Inspection of material received.
- Review of MTR’s.
- Interpretation of drawings.
- Verification of construction of process piping, structural items and pressure vessels.
- Witnessing hydro-tests and function tests.
- Verification of calibration records.
- Visual inspection of weldments.
- Assembly and verification of project quality turnover documentation.
- Knowledge and enforcement of client specification.
- Review ITP’s and travel sheets.
- NDE requests, tracking and logging.
- Review NDE reports for accuracy and log in job file.
- Customer, third party and ABSA coordination.
- Visit sub-contractor shops to inspect the fabrication of contracted pieces.

**Direct Reports**

The Quality Control Inspector is a motivated member of a team working together in the most efficient manner. The position has no direct reports.

**Tools, Systems, Equipment and Machinery**

Personal Computer/laptop with Microsoft Office Suite, tracking and documentation software.

**Physical Requirements**

Sitting for periods at a time focused on a computer screen. Lifting light to moderate weights. On feet, bending, climbing ladders in fabrication shop.

**Travel Requirements**

Travel between shops, to local customers and to sub-contractor’s facilities within Alberta. There is possibility of travel to customer sites.

**Working Environment**

Works in a controlled office environment. Shop with potential extreme cold or heat. Outside in potential extreme cold or heat. Requires safety equipment most of the time.

**Communications**

Effectively facilitates internal and/or external meetings. Interacts in a respectful and cooperative manner with customers, inspectors, sub-contractors, suppliers and co-workers. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion. Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

**Qualifications**
- CWB level 1 or 2 (B31.3, W59, ASME VIII - endorsements).
- Metal trade background.
- Knowledge of various NDE processes (RT, UT, MPI, LPI etc).
- Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good knowledge of ASME / ANSI / API Codes.
- Theoretical and practical project management knowledge.
- Knowledge of techniques and tools.
- NDE certs an asset (MPI/ LPI etc).
- ABSA Welding Examiner an asset.

**Salary**: $36.00-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 per week

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Quality Control: 3 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

- CWB Level 1 or 2 (required)
