**Join Our Team as Fisheries Manager**

Are you passionate about marine conservation and eager to make a tangible impact in the beautiful K’omoks marine territory? We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Fisheries Manager to lead and innovate in managing our valuable fisheries resources.

As the Fisheries Manager, you will be at the forefront of advocating for the K’omoks’ marine harvesting rights and jurisdiction, while collaborating closely with various stakeholders to address environmental, socio-cultural, and economic challenges. This is your chance to play a critical role in ensuring food security, sustaining our marine habitats, and supporting the community's commercial fishing interests.

**What You'll Do**:

- Provide strategic leadership in overseeing fisheries programs, working alongside a passionate team to monitor and protect our resources.
- Advocate for K’omoks inherent, Section 35, and treaty rights regarding harvesting and marine resources.
- Respond to provincial and federal referrals related to aquaculture, with a solid understanding of the Fisheries Act and relevant legislation.
- Navigate Environmental Assessment processes and engage in consultation frameworks with First Nations and government entities.
- Collaborate weekly with the Director of IGR and various departments, including the Guardians and Archeology team, to drive innovative solutions.
- Lead efforts to secure funding, manage agreements with governmental bodies, and build capacity within the Fisheries programs.
- Engage with strategic partners and foster strong relationships with other Nations and governments to strengthen our fisheries initiatives.

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Crafting comprehensive reports and briefing notes in collaboration with the K’omoks Fish Team.
- Negotiating fisheries agreements and coordinating habitat enhancement plans within a strategic framework.
- Leading development impact assessments and ensuring accurate fisheries stock assessments and reporting.
- Keeping a pulse on catch monitoring, database management, and preparing impactful in-season and post-season reports.

- Bachelor's degree in related fields like fisheries aquaculture or environmental sciences, with 3+ years' experience in fisheries management preferred.
