Sawmill Operations Trainee

Under the guidance of the Mill Manager, the Sawmill Operations Trainee will develop skills in all functional areas of sawmill operation including, production, maintenance, quality, transportation and logistics, sales and marketing, customer relations, and environmental, health and safety. Applied learning in the workplace will be supplemented with mentorship, coaching and coursework.

- Safety Leadership
- Forestry and Harvesting
- Wood Procurement
- Sawmill Operation - overview, primary and secondary breakdown and trimmer/sorter/stacker
- Saw filing
- Sawmill maintenance and planning
- Working at night
- Planer Operations
- Planer maintenance
- Sawmill and Planer mill quality control
- Boilers and kilns
- Sawmill leadership
**What You Offer**
- High School diploma or GED
- Strong preference for post-secondary education degree
- At least one year of service with Interfor is preferred
- Ability to travel with a valid Passport or the ability to obtain a passport.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Career-focused with ambitions to work in leadership roles in sawmill operations along with the willingness to relocate
- Desire and ability to learn
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees and external parties
- Team player with strong work ethic
- Computer skills and aptitude
