We are looking for enthusiastic, positive and motivated individuals to join our team. We are a forest / outdoors / nature based program, our philosophy is based on educators and children, learning, developing and growing together, building reciprocal relationships with one another as well as a love and respect for nature and our environment. The following skills would be an advantage, punctuality, excellent oral communication skills, excellent written communication skills, strong values and ethics, reliability, interpersonal awareness, judgement, dependability, flexibility, team player, effective interpersonal skills.

Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers, support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of children. Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing art activities. Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors. Discuss progress of children at staff meetings.

Develop and implement childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of children. Lead activities by telling or reading stories. Teaching songs and communicating with children, taking them to local points of interest, spend significant amounts of time in the forest and outdoors in nature, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity. Guide and assist children in the development of healthy eating, dressing and personal hygiene and care. Observe children’s progress, interests, development, behavioural concerns and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor. Knowledge of the day care act, knowledge of licensing regulations, establish guidelines for behaviour, assess the abilities, interests and needs of the children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children. Plan and maintain and environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children.

Criminal record check, child abuse registry, vulnerable sector check - Required

Nova Scotia Classification Level 1, 2 or 3 - Preferred

**Salary**: $19.10-$24.39 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Hammonds Plains, NS: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Criminal record check, child abuse reg, vulnerable sector (preferred)

Work Location: In person
