**1 ‑ Part Time (.5) - Registered Practical Nurse**

**Transitional Rehabilitation Housing Program**

This position will involve working the evening and weekend shifts. The shift is not to be interpreted as a guarantee.

Reporting to the Manager of Forensic Mental Health, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing quality

nursing care to complex patient populations whose outcomes are not predictable. As part of an inter‑professional

health care team, the Transitional Rehabilitation Housing RPN will practice within the standards of the College of

Nurses of Ontario, the philosophy of patient and family centered care, as well as the mission, vision, values and

policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC). The Transitional Rehabilitation Housing RPN

will participate as a member of the inter‑professional team, providing therapeutic services to registered Forensic

clients living in the community under varying legal mandates.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the

ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification in BCLS
- Recent Forensic Mental Health Nursing in an acute care setting and relevant mental health disorders and

psychosocial rehabilitative treatment practices and experience in program development and evaluation
- Knowledge of current legislation related to the Criminal Code of Canada Part XX.1 ‑ Mental Disorder, the Mental

Health Act, and the Health Care Consent Act
- Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his

basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
- Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
- Strong interprofessional and communication skills
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable means of transportation and appropriate insurance coverage

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:

- Have a certification, or recent continuing education in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing

Salary Range: $36.092 to 37.049
