Reporting to the Parks Foreman, the Parks Operator is directly responsible for turf and ground maintenance equipment, as well as trail and tree maintenance equipment. This employee will also operate front-end loaders, skid steers, tractors, mowers, snow removal equipment, trucks, packers, and a variety of complex turf and ground maintenance equipment and other medium to light type mobile equipment.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Operates a variety of equipment required in the maintenance of parks and open spaces but is not limited to, skid steers, tractors, mowers, snow removal equipment, trucks, packers and a variety of turf and ground maintenance equipment and other medium to light type mobile equipment required in the construction and maintenance of parks and open spaces.
- Able to run equipment such as weed trimmers, chainsaws, log splitting and tree chipping equipment, and power and hand tools.
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment for which the employee is responsible for operating.
- Assists in the repair of equipment for which the employee is responsible for operating as required.
- Takes direction from the Parks Foreman, or Lead Hand in the absence of the Foreman, having the ability to work with little or mínimal supervision.
- Performs other Town related work as necessary including manual labour, as directed by the Parks, Recreation & Facilities Manager.
- Identifies policies and procedures that may enhance the department.
- Takes standby and lift stations as required.

**KEY COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum of Grade 12, and one-year direct experience in operation of medium type mobile equipment.
- Possess and retain a valid Class 3 Alberta Operators Licence with “Q” endorsement (Air Brakes).
- Capable of working independently and in a team environment.
- Physically capable of performing assigned duties.
- Has a good working knowledge of safety standards and practices and has the ability and desire to implement them.
- Dedicated to maintaining and improving our community and as such, serves the public with courtesy and respect.
- First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation are considered to be assets in this position.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Hours of work shall be 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and includes a 50-minute (unpaid) period for lunch and two 15-minute (paid) breaks.
- The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and noise levels.
- May be requested to work shift work, overtime, and weekends as needed.

**Salary**: From $24.35 per hour
