**OUR COMPANY**
PWO Canada is a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier for auto manufacturers globally. We are one of five subsidiaries in the PWO AG Group, manufacturing lightweight metal components for the automotive industry.
**PURPOSE OF POSITION**
The Machine Setter is responsible for production equipment setup, adjustments, and operation. They monitor and organize all workflows on the equipment and actively supports all CIP action plans.
**NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION**
Internally the incumbent primarily interacts with the supervisory personnel. Additional interactions occur with production, maintenance, tooling, quality services personnel when problems exist in the equipment operated and the quality of the parts produced. No external contacts exist for this position.
The position is responsible for his/her work and is responsible for supporting the work of others. The position may be involved in training and overseeing temporary personnel and new operators to ensure they are doing their job properly and they are working in a safe manner. Problems encountered by this position are usually referred to a Team Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**:High School Diploma.
**Knowledge and Skills**:The incumbent must have manual dexterity and a mechanical aptitude. The incumbent must be able to read, understand instructions and follow them exactly, as well as able to work independently without close supervision. The incumbent must be able to operate a punch press, progressive press, feed line, and crane. Basic computer skills are required in order to use a Windows program and input appropriate documentation.
**Communication Skills** Basic oral and written communication skills are required in order to identify and communicate when there are problems with a machine, the quality of parts produced, in order to complete necessary paperwork, and able to follow specific instructions.
**Nature and Length of Experience**: At least one year experience in a similar industry. Tool and Die Maker experience is an asset.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Setup, adjustment on production equipment and tooling
- Participates and monitors order, and cleanliness
- Corrects malfunctions on production equipment and tooling
- Produces parts to specification
- Identifies and implements CIP action plans to improve yields and quality, and to reduce malfunctions and downtime
- Requests order-specific materials and tools
- Where required, participates in shop floor management
- Tool trials, new ramp ups, participation in strip layout / design meeting
- Identifies maintenance actions and discusses these with departments.
- Machine operator and shop assistant qualifications: tooling engineering, workflows, shopfloor data entry, etc.
- Contact for functionally assigned production reports
- Problem coordinator; moves decisions forward (escalation model)
- Networks with other machine setters, CIP representative and maintenance
- Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy.
- Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees. Reporting any unsafe working conditions, practices, and work-related injuries immediately to his/her Supervisor or Manager.
- Any other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Team Lead, Supervisor and Manager.
