**About the Position**

SLSC is looking for a "handyman / handyperson" to support the proper repair and maintenance of our facility, with an emphasis on general repairs and preventative maintenance. The Maintenance Tech II acts independantly withint their day-to-day functions and may collaboratively support other maintenance and operations personnel. A primary focus on this position is to perform functions which support a positive customer experience within the facility (such as patching & painting walls). This position works closely and collaboratively with all teams and departments, and is always working towards excellence in internal & external customer service.

**Schedule**:

- 8-10 hours/week

**Specific Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for independently performing a variety of work to support the maintenance and repair of the building including renovation, repair, carpentry, painting, and preventative maintenance.
- Support the Operations & Maintenance team with grounds maintenance & landscaping, including lawn, flowers, snow maintenance & ice removal as required.
- Ensure all work requests are completed according to priority and in a timely manner, managing quality control and work standards with an ongoing goal of superior customer service (for external and internal customers).
- May support and assist other maintenance technicians in building operations or trades tasks, such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Arena or Pool Operations, under supervision and/or direction.
- Maintain records of scheduled maintenance completion as per procedures, escalating issues to Manager as required.
- Responsible for housekeeping of mechanical areas.
- Troubleshoot, prioritize, & take corrective action to prevent poor customer experience, equipment or system failures.
- Act as safety and security personnel when required.
- Prepare facility and areas of the facility for special programs, events and services when required.
- Administrative work, such as hazard assessments and general reporting/tracking as required.
- Follow all safety requirements of the role as required, acting as a role model for others in safe work practices.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience & Education: A combination of experience, certifications and skills will be considered.
- 1-3 years of previous general maintenance experience is required: carpentry, painting, renovations
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- Basic electrical, plumbing, heating, mechanical or HVAC experience (or Trades Apprenticeship) is an asset.
- Experience in a relevant industry is a significant asset: recreation, sport, attractions, public facilities, etc
- Proven experience working proactively in an environment focused on public guests/customer service
- Strong safety record
- Other training assets: First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, Fall Protection, Forklift/Aerial Lift Training, Confined Space, Ammonia Training
- Pool Operations or Arena Operations certification is an asset.
- Comfort with computers and various software
- Able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license and able to provide a sufficiently clear drivers abstract
