**Job Summary**

The South Okanagan, Similkameen Peer Coordinator is a member of the Foundry Penticton Team and offers support and mentoring to peer support workers working in the South Okanagan Similkameen. They will work collaboratively with youth, families, and community service providers. Reporting to the Peer supervisor, the
South Okanagan Similkameen Peer Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring youth 12-24 get access to appropriate supports while crating inclusive and youth-friendly environments. South Okanagan Similkameen
Peer Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships within communities while sharing resources and supports. This position assists with implementing, organizing and facilitation of groups, events, and workshops for young people throughout South Okanagan and Similkameen.

**Skills, Knowledge, and Experience**
- Diploma in Community/Social/Human services or recent, related experience of two years or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
- Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use, completion of/eligible for completion of a recognized youth peer support training program, and willing to self-identify and share experience
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Computer skills, Microsoft teams, office, excel, PowerPoint and social media
- Well-developed communication skills: ability to speak, listen and write clearly, thoroughly, and professionally
- Empathic, compassionate with good listening skills and creative thinking

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Self-starter with a positive attitude able to advocate for self and others
- Ability to work independently and show initiative, as well as be part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to organize, prioritize and to work with confidence under pressure or in difficult circumstances
- Provides support, guidance and mentorship to peer support workers and youth
- Assists in sharing information on resources and service navigation throughout the valley’s
- Submits regular activity reports, timesheets, expense forms, complete and maintain related records and documents
- Physical and mental ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Attends and participates in team meeting, case conferences and community events
- Conflict resolution and crisis intervention

**Other Requirements**
- Clear criminal records check
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's license, a reliable vehicle and clean driver’s record
- Emergency First Aid & CPR
- Flexible work schedule
