**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing financial data to support strategic decision-making and improve financial performance. This role involves preparing detailed reports, forecasts, and financial models to provide insights into business operations. The Financial Analyst collaborates with internal teams to gather data, identify trends, and develop recommendations for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
**Job Duties**
- Gather financial data from internal teams, including but not limited to production, warehouse, sales, and purchasing.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports to track performance metrics and key financial indicators.
- Assist in monitoring budgets, identifying variances, and providing explanations for discrepancies.
- Analyze production costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Develop financial forecasts and models to predict future financial performance and support strategic planning.
- Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results with budgeted figures, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Monitor inventory levels and costs, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting.
- Work closely with production, sales, and procurement teams to gather data and provide financial insights.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies, assisting with audits as needed.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and projects as requested by management.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and analysis efficiency.
- Conduct market research to understand industry trends and their impact on financial performance.
- Prepare and present financial findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications & Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field required.
- MBA or master’s degree considered an asset.
- 5 years progressive experience in financial analysis, accounting or related field.
- Minimum 3 years experience within food manufacturing or related industry.
- Proven experience in financial modeling, forecasting and data analysis.
- CFA, CPA or related certification.
- IFRS and US GAAP experience considered an asset.
- NetSuite, QuickBooks, or related systems experience.
- Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Extensive experience in Tableau, Power BI or related.
- Ability to prepare financial models, dashboards and business case proposals.
