The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
- **Job Duties/Competencies**:_
- Schedule tutoring appointments with students or their guardians;
- Prepare and facilitate tutoring sessions, collaborative projects, or academic support sessions to individual or small groups of students;
- Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, worksheets, etc.;
- Teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies;
- Participate in training and development sessions to improve tutoring practices or learn new tutoring techniques;
- Assess students' progress throughout tutoring sessions;
- Maintain records of students' assessment results, progress, feedback, or school performance, ensuring confidentiality of all records;
- **Skills and Qualifications**:_
- Experience teaching, instructing or tutoring Calculus and Applied Math, Physics, Chemistry, and ability to do so in French;
- Ability to develop and use teaching or training materials, such as handouts, study materials, or quizzes;
- Knowledge of online learning platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and comfortable working with students remotely;
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills;
- A flexible schedule - tutoring is usually scheduled in the afternoons or evenings, however we are preferably looking for evening tutors. Tutors will have the ability to make their own schedules with their assigned students;
- Knowledge of, or experience working in the school system as a teacher, educational assistant, student teacher and/or experience working with youth is preferred;
- Clear Child Abuse Registry Check required at the expense of the Tutor;
- Education degree, previous tutor experience, or knowledge of the tutoring process is preferred; and,
- Ability to tutor in Michif is an asset.
