Peterborough, Canada Kawartha Youth Orchestra Full time

**About the Role**

We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic part-time Fundraising and Development Representative (FDR) to join our team and play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence and driving revenue growth. As a Sales Development Representative, you will be responsible for generating and qualifying leads, initiating outreach to potential donors, and nurturing relationships to drive sponsorship opportunities. Support will be provided as relationships progress, where members of the board of directors will help foster these relationships into closing. The primary goal of this role is to drive sustainable financial growth by forging strong relationships with organizations and donors that support KYO’s mission. The FDR role is intended to be a flexible, supplemental role, although there is the potential for full-time hours if KPIs are achieved and additional hours are desirable. This role will be paid a base hourly rate plus a competitive commission rate.

**About the Organization**

We are a community music and orchestra-training organization serving elementary through post-secondary-aged youth and has been running continuously since 2002. Our mission is to combine accessibility with a pursuit of excellence in our orchestral experiences and training. No child is denied music participation because of restricted financial means. Our instrument-lending library ensures children have quality instruments with which to learn. We at the Kawartha Youth Orchestra provide professional instrumental teaching artists and performers, hosts public education events, advocates for the Arts, and promotes social innovation partnerships that tie music learning and performance to community-building initiatives.

We aim to give our members a life-long love of music, while also helping them develop self-esteem, discipline, teamwork, leadership, performance skills, and a strong connection to their community through music. We currently run three ensembles - one for new musicians, an intermediate group, and a senior youth orchestra for developing and experienced instrumentalists. Since September 2021, we have run a subsidized music program downtown, which is an after-school ensemble instruction program for children, aged 6-18 years, facing pronounced socio-economic barriers. The program runs three afternoons a week and provides a daily nutritious mini-meal, a safe landing place for guided positive social interaction and leadership development, 1:1 attention and role modelling from caring adults, and skill development through ensemble instrumental music instruction.

**Responsibilities**
- Qualify leads to determine their suitability and interest in our products/services.
- Schedule and conduct initial meetings with prospective donors.
- Collaborate with operations and finance to develop and execute strategies for converting leads into opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions with leads and prospects.
- Work closely with social media to align messaging and outreach efforts to target customer segments.
- Continuously learn about our programs, local trends, and competitive landscape to effectively communicate value propositions to prospects.
- Assist in developing and implementing sales strategy to drive lead generation and conversion.
- Collaborate with the community engagement committee to develop fundraising collateral, presentations, and other materials to support sales efforts.

**Key Performance Indicators**
- Number of qualified leads generated.
- Conversion rate of leads to opportunities.
- Meeting and demo attendance rates.
- Average revenue generated from converted opportunities.
- Value added per dollar spent (ROI+).

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience as a sales development representative, fundraiser, or similar role.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales/BD targets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively articulate program benefits to potential customers.
- Proficiency in using the Google Suite of products.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
