**The excavator operator will assist in the operation of a mini-excavator for the purpose of ground excavation and backfilling to support quality installation of grade level boxes, conduit splicing and various ground restoration activities.**

**What you will do**
- Work in collaboration with labourer for all planning and execution of civil construction deliverables
- Assist in the daily preparation of planned work activities and materials required for maximizing efficiency.
- Load, transport and unload construction vehicles and materials according to safety protocols
- Set the installation of road safety signs and cones on site according to approved traffic control plans.
- Perform regular inspections and conduct maintenance of construction equipment to prevent damage and minimize downtime.
- Thoroughly review and verify validity of utility locates prior to commencement of excavation work.
- Conduct site surveys and mark locations for planned installation of network infrastructure according to detailed design requirement and municipal permit requirements
- Operate Mini Excavator to perform safe excavation of pits and trenches in accordance with permit / design requirements, maintaining 1m distance from existing utilities and underground infrastructure
- Assist crew partner in performing quality installation of Grade level boxes, mainline conduit splices, and window cuts for service breakouts to customer premise and/or property line according to design
- Assist in post-installation ground restoration and cleanup to return ground conditions to pre-construction conditions
- Adhere to all workplace safety protocols and procedures.
- Report on daily production according to company requirements
- Represent Vision as a respectful guest within the communities we serve.

**Qualifications**
- 2 years of construction experience as an operator and/or labourer
- Valid Ontario G class license with safe driving record / abstract
- 1 year of experience working in the construction of telecom and/or utility infrastructure
- 1 year experience with the operation of Mini Excavators and Skid Steers.
- 1 year experience and knowledge with reading and understanding utility locates.
- 1 year experience in conduit splicing, installation of GLBs, installation of service laterals
- Ability to work with technology (tablets, smart phones) to access designs and locates is a strong asset.
- Certification in Book 7 Traffic Control Setup Requirements is a strong asset.
- Certification in Traffic Signaling / Flagging is a strong asset.
- Excellent work ethic with commitment to quality and first-time right principles
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment to help build a positive work culture.
- Must be able to work in a high paced and dynamic working environment.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting 50+ lbs
- Perform different construction tasks using rakes, shovels, and related construction tools
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
- Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.

**Work Location**:

- Greater Leamington Area (Kingsville, Leamington, Wheatley, ON)

Pay: From $33.77 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 48 per week
