Financial Analyst

**The Opportunity**

Reporting to the Manager, Finance/Deputy Treasurer, provides technical financial advice and support to various Departments including, but not limited to, detailed review and analysis of Operating budget, as well as responsible for financial activities of the assigned portfolio including: journal entries, account reconciliation, financial controls and quality assurance activities, collection and input of financial information, preparation of financial reports, supporting the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets and business planning, performing financial analysis and forecasting. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing of Monthly and Quarterly financial variance and forecast reports with decision makers of assigned portfolio.

This position will provide financial support to the overall financial sustainability of the Town by providing professional advice to managers on financial matters relevant to assigned department’s operation, assumes all budgeting and financial analysis responsibilities for the relevant Department, including financial modelling, forecasting, researching, council report/presentation preparation and process streamlining.

Proactively identify and recommend to management the best investment opportunities based on the Town’s cash flow management procedures and investment objectives. Working closely and in collaboration with other departments and teams in support of Community Growth. As the Financial Analyst, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

- Financial planning support for budget target setting, deliver training and ongoing assistance to Departments allowing them to successfully deliver a robust and transparent budget to Council, coordination of the formal Budget Document, review of proposed changes in service level including providing input and financial analysis.
- Ongoing financial analysis and support role to Departments by monthly review of operating transactions and variance to budget, regular meetings with Departments to discuss variances, review and consolidation of Departmental feedback
- Reconcile and prepare detailed monthly reconciliations of accounts and Bank accounts
- Finance lead on developing investment policies, procedures and establishing cash flow modelling to proactively identify investment opportunities which constantly helps generate additional investment interest revenue to offset budget pressure for the Town

This position offers a salary range of $74,404.70 - $91,183.26 plus a competitive benefit package.
