United for Literacy (formally Frontier College) is a national, non-profit literacy organization that was founded in 1899. We work with children, youth, adults, and families to support them in acquiring the skills they need to be successful while instilling a passion for life-long learning.

We work with a variety of community-based organizations to deliver volunteer-run, community-based programs across Canada.

**The United for Literacy Intern Support Team (IST) will work as a team to support our local children and youth literacy programs specifically to summer months. **The interns will work under mentoring/supervision and report directly to the Community Coordinator. These programs include but are not limited to, after-school tutoring programs, summer literacy & numeracy programs, 1-1 tutoring, online tutoring, community events etc. Please note you must be legally eligible to work in Canada to be considered.
- Please note this position does require local travel and commute._
- **Duties & Responsibilities;**_
- Prepare, Deliver and Facilitate Community Based Literacy and Numeracy Programs
- Complete necessary training and orientation
- Opportunities to work with local school boards
- Become familiar with the Ontario Education Curriculum.
- Support team of interns in planning, facilitating, and coordinating academic programs
- Provide support and training to United for Literacy Volunteers
- Create educational activities, games, and worksheets in correspondence with Ontario Education Curriculum.
- Complete individual tasks as well as group work
- Ensure all tasks are completed in a timely & efficient manner with specific deadlines being met as directed.
- Participate in weekly intern meetings & professional development opportunities
- Visit program sites to provide support or help with assessments and /or evaluations
- Create & develop activity kits to be distributed to local and national partners
- Represent United for Literacy at appreciation events, fundraisers and awareness events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Community Coordinator

Part-time hours: 35 per week

**Salary**: $16.50-$16.75 per hour
