ROLE SUMMARY:
This individual will utilize a strong data science background to source, analyze, model and operationalize analytics to produce valuable insights and correlations within data sets. They will also utilize their skills in data engineering to support and assist with building data pipelines, integrations, and ETL (extract, transform and load) process's that will support the strategic vision and growth of the analytics function at ATS.
General Responsibilities
- Work with key internal and external stakeholders in designing and deploying industry leading analytics with the goal of enhanced data analysis
- Work with cross-functioning teams to understand business requirements and needs
- Provide strategic and data-driven recommendations to inform decisions
- Independently maintain accurate documentation for each project
- Utilize data to advise customers on solutions to technical challenges
- Develop and maintain a deep and intimate knowledge of the manufacturing operation to support the execution of the assigned duties
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct
- Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures
Data Science Responsibilities
- Gather, cleanse and preprocess data for analysis
- Analyze datasets, summarize main characteristics, and visualize data to identify patterns and/or insights
- Conduct hypothesis testing on findings
- Translate complex data findings into actional insights.
- Develop and build models leveraging machine learning algorithms, training, testing and validating models in both test and production environments
Data Engineering Responsibilities
- Assist with and support the team in developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines.
- Work with ATS developers to ensure efficient data flow between systems and processes.
- Utilize API’s and data extraction tools to support the team with integrating data from various sources into unified spaces (Data warehousing etc.)
- Support the team with the design and optimization of systems focused on performance and reliability
- Support the team with the development and maintenance of Extract, Transform, and Load Processes (ETL's) throughout integrated systems
- Assist with evaluating and implementing new data engineering tools and Technologies.
**Additional Information**:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education
- A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Information system, Mathematic, Statistics, Machine Learning, Artificial intelligence, Engineering)
- A Master’s degree is considered beneficial.
Experience
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or Java
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy)
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
- Experience with databases (SQL, Influx)
- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes
- Familiarity with tools like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Understanding of software engineering principles and best practices
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Ability to design and implement efficient algorithms and solutions
- Demonstrated experience in deploying machine learning models to production
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment with mínimal supervision
- In addition, the following is considered not necessary but beneficial:
- Experience with Agile development practices
- Understanding of automation mechanical, electrical and control systems
- Understanding of machine operation, maintenance, service and troubleshooting
- Understanding of Machine Vision systems and solutions
- Understanding of PLCs and PLC communication
- Exposure and understanding of business intelligence
