Surgical Coordinator

Ford Plastic Surgery and MedSpa is a state-of-the-art Plastic Surgery Clinic and Medical Spa. It is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all your Cosmetic and Aesthetic needs. There are three plastic surgeons, a nurse injector and a medical aesthetician performing procedures regularly. We work out of two onsite operating rooms, a Medical Spa Centre, and a clinic space designed for consultations and support staff.
Ford Plastic Surgery is currently looking to hire a **Surgical Coordinator** to support the daily operations of the clinic, Medical Spa, and Operating rooms. This role is a **12-month, fixed term contract,** with the opportunity to extend if the business needs require it. The incumbent will work within a team of 5 support staff who all share in duties related to reception, sales, collections and various other admin tasks.
The Surgical Coordinator has complete responsibility of ensuring the scheduled surgeries proceed without any issues. In addition to ensuring the operating staff are prepared for the respective procedures, the responsibilities of the Surgical Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that patients who have decided to proceed with surgery have the appropriate investigations and paperwork completed in a timely fashion
- Being the chief liaison for patients leading up to their surgical date
- Managing inventory for medical and clinical supplies
- Preparation of patient charts
- Scheduling procedures with the various surgical facilities that are used by the practice
- Participation in the day to day management of the schedule of practice
- Post op patient management, including booking follow up appointments and answering questions related to their recovery
- Ensuring the platforms that various teams use as a reference for surgery is up to date and accurate
- Receipt and management of the mail for the practice
- Answering / directing inbound telephone calls
The following requirements and skills will be beneficial for the successful completion of this role:
- Undergraduate degree in Health Sciences / Kinesiology / Biomedical Science is considered an asset
- Prior experience in a health care setting, aesthetic/cosmetic practice or medical spa will be considered an asset
- Experience in clerical, administrative, or secretarial work
- Excellent customer services skills
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical record keeping and surgical procedures
- Strong computer and telephone skills

This is a Full-Time, 5 days / week IN PERSON position. The clinic is located at 7 St. Thomas St. There will also be occasional travel required to our Oshawa location.
