Reports to: Cheerleading Coordinator The Cheerleading Coach

Works under the direct supervision of the Cheerleading Coordinator and will work closely with the team across all programs as required. Programs may include tiny, mini youth, junior and senior level recreation and competitive classes, and other appropriate gymnastic related programs.
- Assist in guiding a program that engages children and youth in the local community in developmentally appropriate physical activity at the recreation and competitive level.
- Provide developmentally-appropriate cheerleading and movement instruction to children, youth, and adults of all abilities in a safe, fun and physically active environment
- Plan and lead lessons tailored to the developmental characteristics of the group, adjusting activities as necessary to provide optimal challenge for each participant
- Supervises and mentor junior coaches and work with the overall team in supporting coach’s performance
- Assist with implementation and evaluating programs for athletes and coaches in cheerleading programs

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
- Responsible for guiding outlined programs in conjunction with other staff
- Assist in planning and implementing special cheerleading program events
- To demonstrate a sensibility to children’s needs and provide encouragement
- To attend technical updating clinics as required
- Maintains a work environment that fosters commitment and trust - Provides motivation, support and encouragement to coaches
- To maintain first aid and CPR certification
- Maintains the necessary discipline required to ensure a safety and enjoyable environment for all participants, and coaches
- Activates emergency procedures as required
- Detects, minimizes and reports any hazardous conditions, practices and behaviours in the workplace to the Facility Manager
- Complies with the safety policies
- Works closely with Cheerleading Coordinator to address any concerns of equipment

OTHER DUTIES;
- Ensure positive communication with parents and guardians of the participants
- Complies with approved organization policies and procedures
- Ensures the security and care of supplies, property and equipment within the facility
- Performs additional related duties as may be requested by the Cheerleading Coordinator

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES;
- Must have previous cheerleading experience as an athlete or coach (ICU certification is an asset)
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification
- Respect in sport certification
- Clean criminal record check completed every 3 years
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage change and conflict through effective conflict resolution techniques
- Ability to communicate well with all age groups
- Basic knowledge and experience in child care, cheerleading, and sports programs - Ability to present a neat appearance and to deal tactfully and effectively with the public
- Ability to work independently and as a team play

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 15 per week

**Salary**: $16.28-$25.00 per hour
