**Description**:
The monitor (for special needs children) is responsible for integrating any physically or mentally handicapped camper(s) assigned to her or him into the day camp activities program.

**Departmental mission**:
The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.

**General responsibilities and goals**:

- Integrates the child into the assigned group;
- Helps the child become as autonomous as possible;
- Encourages interaction and friendship with her or his peers;
- Encourages the child to take part in as many activities as possible;
- Provides additional help and attention, if necessary;
- Helps enforce camp rules;
- Keeps a list of medications when required;
- Carefully supervises the child at all times (especially at the pool and on outings);
- Communicates with parents;
- Performs any other related task..

**Job requirements**:

- Experience working with special needs children
- Bilingualism (French and English spoken and written);
- Good communicator with demonstrated enthusiasm for working with youth;
- Ability to work in a team setting;
- Organizational skills;
- Can adapt, open-mindedly, to various unforeseen situations.

**Schedule**:
From February 27 to March 3rd, 2023 and/or March 6 to March 10, 2023
Approximately 35 hours per week
The monitor-companion must be available to begin his/her employment earlier.
