**Location**: Aaniin Community Centre

**Job Summary**
In this position, you will plan, organize, instruct and evaluate basic fundamental movement skills through badminton. You will also be responsible for ensuring a positive and safe environment for participants and peers.

**Responsibilities**
- Facilitates, leads and supervises the program
- Organizes and writes lesson plans to be handed in by week two of the program
- Develops lesson plans specific to the abilities of each group. Reviews lesson plans with the Recreation Supervisor/ Program Coordinator prior to class and submits at the end of each session.
- Prepares and organizes program equipment and supplies, maintaining an inventory of supplies, reporting to the Program Coordinator/ Recreation Supervisor any items needing replacement
- Meets with parents (if needed) prior to, or after class time
- Directly guides volunteers and part time Program Assistants as required
- Advises Program Coordinator/ Recreation Supervisor of any customer service issues, complaints or inquiries
- Ensures safety at ALL times, enforcing safety regulations as set out by the City of Markham policies and procedures
- Adheres to the principles of Healthy Child Development (children ages 6 to 12 years)
- Other duties as required.

**Requirements**:

- Successful completion of a high school diploma
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’
- Pursuing post-secondary training in Sports an asset
- Early Childhood Education Diploma an asset
- Minimum 2 years combined previous experience working with children and or adults in an instructional sports setting in badminton
- Successful completion of High Five Certificate and adherence to the principles of Healthy Child Development (children ages 6 to 12 years)
- Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Excellent customer service and communication skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons in a courteous and efficient manner
- Able to deal tactfully with customers
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good computer skills (MS Office) and ability to learn new software
