Coatings Chemist

For over 30 years, Superior Finishes Inc. has been a progressive manufacturer of industrial coatings for metal, wood, PVC, and various other substrates for OEM and other markets. We are a growing company, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in a large and modernized facility within the Inkster Industrial Park.

**Position Summary**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Formulate, prepare, and conduct testing of paint samples
- Write project reports, SDS’s and TDS’s, along with other product/project related documents as required
- Initiate/support value engineering projects
- Interact with Production and Quality Control to provide assistance with technical issues as required
- Attend line trials at customer locations as required
- Research new developments in coating technology to ensure optimization of raw materials for improving custom coating properties
- Participate in technical meetings and conferences

**Qualifications**:

- B Sc.degree in chemistry or chemical engineering (M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred)
- 5+ years formulating experience in the coatings industry
- In depth knowledge of coatings science and experience with coatings manufacturing processes and raw materials
- Innovative thinking
- Analytical and strategic skills
- Experience with customer interactions, and the ability to effectively communicate both orally and written
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong sense of work ethic and self-motivation
