Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Hospitality Manager has the overall responsible for assisting in overseeing housekeeping and dining operations to deliver an excellent Resident and Guest experience.
- Primary responsibilities include:_
- Manage a diverse team of line cooks, kitchens aides and housekeepers.
- Responsible for the end-to-end employee life cycle of team members in their department. This includes support of development, scheduling, performance management and engagement of our team members.
- Meet or exceed food safety, sanitation, quality, delivery health code compliance.
- Create a work environment that is collaborative, empowering, and opportunities to engage creativities and employee strengths.
- Monitor the appearance, standards and performance of the Hospitality team with an emphasis on training and teamwork
- Understand how to manage costs and maximize revenue.
- Ensure the safety of all operations, particularly food and beverage health code compliance.
- Ensure the operational efficiency of the kitchen, including maintenance, and security oversight.
- Prepare all menu items using high quality ingredients.
- Practice safe food handling procedures with special emphasis on critical control temperatures.
- Check inventory supplies to ensure proper stock levels for the preparation of menu items are available.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety. Monitor food temperatures during storage, preparation, cooking and service of all phases of foods served. Monitor labelling and proper storage of foods. Monitor and record temperatures of all kitchen refrigerators and freezers.
- Maintain the preventative maintenance program for kitchen and housekeeping equipment and report all malfunction in equipment or physical plant.
- Monitor use and misuse of equipment, utensils, and cleaning supplies.
- Maintain accurate daily production records to manage purchasing and control of expenditures.
- Maintain Storage Room cleanliness.
- Ensure Housekeepers have an up-to-date knowledge of all room categories and amenities
- Work as a team member to maintain a pleasant, effective work environment.
- Participate in the Occupational Health and Safety Committee as a leader, focusing on cleanliness, sanitation, and hand hygiene.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**
- Alberta Food Basics Safety and Food Safety (_SafeCheck_) certifications are **required.**:

- WHMIS and Standard First Aid, and CPR certifications are an asset.
- Culinary Training and Catering experience considered an asset.
- Hospitality Experience in the hotel/leisure/retail sector in a supervisory capacity.
- Good knowledge of planning and balancing menus and special dietary needs. Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures to lead a team of line cooks and kitchens supervisors.
- Detailed knowledge of mechanical and technical equipment in the kitchen and housekeeping.
- High level of commercial awareness and cost control capabilities.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Committed to delivering high levels of customer service.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- High level of IT proficiency.
- Excellent grooming standards.
- Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations.
- Demonstrate an appreciation of the heritage, values and wisdom of the residents and have a good understanding of the aging process.
- Strong organization and communication skills; experience managing people and working collaboratively across multiple levels, and functions.

**Working Conditions**
- Work with stoves, griddle, steam cookers, refrigerators, food mixers, food processors, meat slicers, dish washing equipment, sinks, knives and various utensils, pots and pans.
- Exposure to hot surfaces, steam, wet floors, hot oil, heavy lifting, knives and other sharp objects, mechanical equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Work flexible hours as required.

**Physical Demands**
- While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Incumbent is occasionally required to taste or smell
- Push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs on a weekly basis.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and work in a standing position for a long period of time
