**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To act as Lead when the Elevator Manager is not on site
- Safe and reliable operation of the elevator
- Assist the Elevator Manager to effectively maintain and build profitable market presence.
- Assist in the purchasing process of quality barley.
- Maintain HACCP records as required.
- Assist with shipping according to specifications.
- Perform operational duties effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure quality specifications are met.
- As Safety Officer, ensuring employees adhere to all safe work procedures and safety policies
- As Safety Officer, ensure employees are trained according to safety requirements
- Check all safety supplies on a regular basis for defects or faulty supplies
- Address safety concerns in the elevator
- Complete safety reporting as required
- Build and maintain relationships with growers.
- Provide clear and concise communication to growers.
- Demonstrate professionalism and respect at all times.
- Active involvement in the community and awareness of local priorities and issues.
- Ensure grading equipment “checks” are completed diligently as required.
- Demonstrate discipline in grading techniques and ensure quality specifications are being met.
- Learn and master grading techniques.
- Ensure efficient unloading and proper handling/binning of product.
- Be aware of proper running condition of the elevator and practice preventative maintenance.
- Complete day to day operations in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure that proper documentation is completed.
- Proper sample organization and accurate record of grading results.
- Ensure all inbounds are completed for each load received in the driveway.
- Ensure inbound log, “bin board”, and “bin empty” records are updated for accurate inventory and traceability.
- Review maintenance records with Manager on a monthly basis.
- Assist with daily, weekly and monthly housekeeping tasks including sanitation and equipment checks.
- Perform repairs and routine maintenance on equipment as needed.

**SKILLS & ABILITIES**
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining business relationships.
- Demonstrated business management skills such as computer operations, customer service skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Self motivated with a high level of initiative.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- Experience in the agricultural sector or grain industry required.
- Minimum Grade 12
- Some experience in elevator operations would be an asset.
- Post-secondary education an asset.
