**Laboratory Technician**

**Reports To**

Laboratory Manager

**Summary**
The Lab Technician is responsible for the completion of daily laboratory tasks, fungal culture maintenance and preparation, assisting in fungal inoculation processes, completing laboratory documentation and performing routine checks of laboratory supplies. The Lab Technician will work under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager and as part of a team to complete lab activities while ensuring adherence to Myzel Organics' SOPs, GLP and GDP.

**Job Duties**
- Responsible observing and enforcing Laboratory SOP’s during the inoculation and culturing processes to aid in production while adhering to laboratory methodologies.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, materials and media for daily tasks.
- Maintain fungal culture replicates used for inoculation.
- Maintain inventory, keep supplies stocked as needed.
- Ensure work instructions and SOPs are adhered to.
- Work within cleanroom environment and maintain sterility with regular cleaning and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain and organize database of cultures and back-up cultures
- Communicate with Lab Manager daily to coordinate upcoming lab tasks regarding inoculation needs.
- Recognize problems within the lab, identify causes and determine solutions.
- Remain up to date and educated about our cultures/strains.
- Keep culture plates, slurries, and slants tubes up to date (less than 6 months).
- Make sure cultures are replicated, up to date, and ready for production.
- Maintain safe work environment in the lab.
- Involved with training of Fungi Technicians during inoculation.
- Generally ensure optimal operation of lab.

**Job Requirements**
- Minimum University degree in microbiology OR equivalent 2 to 3 years’ experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Experience conducting aseptic laboratory work.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work under mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team or independently.
- Work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Proven ability to effectively use MS Office, Excel.

**Work Conditions**

- Hazards associated with the trade

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $25.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
