**FULL-TIME PERMANENT POSITION**:
Explore Nature is growing our program offering. In connection with exploring our love of living things, animals, science and nature we are growing our outdoor education and forest/nature programming. We offer year-round animal & nature programs for children. Our programming allows our young explorers the opportunity to learn hands-on and engage in learning adventures that help to build confidence, self-esteem, resiliency and a love for all living things. Learning hands-on and learning outside are amazing ways to help young learners grow. Our programs include weekly outdoor forest & nature programs, March Break, Winter Break, PA Day & Summer Camp Programs.

Providing children with the opportunity to learn hands-on helps them connect with the world around them, develop strong leadership skills, and become creative problem solvers.

**Join our Outdoor Education Team**

Our Outdoor Educators will be the key leader of our outdoor education program. This position requires a love of nature, animals and the outdoors and involves working outside with kids daily. Experience working outdoors, knowledge of nature and outdoor education, and experience working with children are key skills for this role. Our Outdoor Educators have a strong vision of ensuring the program encompasses the core components to teach children a love of nature and animals, respect the earth, gratitude, self-awareness, respect for themselves and others, and learning strong decision-making skills.

Our team is committed to educating children and creating a healthy physical and emotional workplace where we support each other and those who participate in our programs. This position is about creating amazing programs encouraging children to continue questioning and exploring the world around them.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Planning, development and delivery of the programs.
- Provide strong leadership, coaching and mentoring to program staff and volunteers.
- Learn and abide by all policies and procedures, including the staff handbook and emergency plans.
- Attend staff training as required.
- Commit to developing naturalist knowledge, wilderness skills, and personal connection to nature.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work in our outdoor education programs daily and support our after-school program as scheduled. The after-school program is both an indoor and outdoor program.
- Willingness to continuously learn relevant knowledge and skills related to program content and curriculum.

**Requirements**:

- Current Police Vulnerable Sectors Check
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C or higher - or obtain one within 30 days of employment.
- Valid Class G Driver’s License
- Extensive experience working with children, with a degree or diploma in Child/Youth Worker, Social Work, OCT, ECE or another child-related field.
- Some weekend work will be required - typically on Saturdays in the spring and fall.

- Naturalist knowledge of local ecosystems.
- Have a desire to further own naturalist/wilderness skills, mentoring techniques, and/or nature connection through professional development opportunities.

**Preferred experience in**:

- Outdoor and environmental education.
- Naturalist experience and knowledge.
- Survival skills, wilderness experience.
- ECE/OCT or outdoor program experience working with children.

This position offers 30-44 hours per week, depending on the season and weekly scheduled programs. Extended health care benefits are available after the probation period is completed.

This is a full-time permanent position working out of our office in mid-town Toronto. The estimated start date mid to late April.

**Salary**: $24.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
