Associate Metallurgist

**Job Summary**:
Metallurgical Associate conducts metallurgical testing and evaluates ferrous microstructure to meet the customer requirements in the metallurgical lab in support of our neutral hardening, induction hardening, and controlled cooling process in a production based environment.

**Reports to**: Supervisor, Metallurgist.

**Qualifications**:

- 2 years manufacturing experience or other related experience
- A college diploma in material science (ferrous/nonferrous materials), metallurgy, or equivalent considered an asset.
- Experience working with metallurgical laboratory equipment (Hardness Tester, Micro-Hardness Tester, Polisher, Microscope etc.)
- Ability to interpret microstructures of ferrous materials an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel).
- Experience in heat treat operations is an asset.
- Ability to work alone or with others on the same project.
- Ability to work flexible time.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare metallurgical samples.
- Evaluate and judge acceptability of microstructure and hardness.
- Inform Quality Control of product containment if results do not meet standards.
- Keep records of measurements.
- Keep laboratory equipment in work order.
- Other duties as required
- Attend annual health and safety training including (but not limited to) WHMIS, and Incident Reporting
