**Organization Description**

Paradise Entertainment Corporation (“**Paradise**”) is responsible for the management of multi-concepts located at 1006-1014 Bloor Street West in Toronto, Ontario. The cornerstone is **Paradise Theatre**, a venue that has been entertaining Torontonians since 1937. Connected to Paradise Theatre are the following food and beverage concepts**:Osteria Rialto** (a high-end Italian restaurant with a private dining room), **Bar Biltmore** (a cocktail bar), and **Blue Door Wine Shop** (a bottle shop with a tasting table) and **Cafe Paradise** (an all-day menu with coffee bar). With the potential for corporate bookings, banquet and event catering will complete the multiple offerings created in the Paradise spaces.
- **Cafe Paradise**_ is your neighborhood kitchen where the food and hospitality are good enough to visit every day. With a dedicated following of regulars they can start their morning with a double espresso, pastry and fresh bread, and for lunch grab a sandwich or a sweet snack, and end their day with a bite, glass of wine and hearty vegetables. Our pantry, available anytime, provides locally sourced items, imported gems and house-made prepared meals.

Cafe Paradise is hiring a Baker who will report to the Head Chef. Under the direction of the Head Chef, the Baker is responsible for overseeing all baking operations of Cafe Paradise and will develop and maintain a safe, welcoming and professional environment for staff, guests, and vendors. The fundamental duties of the HB include responsibility for food preparation, production, bakery retail and restaurant menu items for service, station management, daily ordering, kitchen cleaning, equipment maintenance, delegating tasks, training new staff, monitoring inventory and quality control. Working closely with Cafe Paradise management, the HB will provide leadership, direction and best-in-class customer service.

**Responsibilities** _(include but are not limited to the following)_

**Culinary Management**
- Responsible for all bread and pastry production including that used for Cafe Paradise, catering and events, “grab-and-go” retail, wine shop food items and any other Paradise menu items
- Seek opportunities to increase food revenue, decrease kitchen expenses and maximize departmental productivity without compromising our guests’ satisfaction
- Ensure consistency with our standard set portion sizes, baking methods, and quality standards
- Assist menu planning activities to include the purchasing specifications, product and recipe testing and menu development
- Approves the requisition of products and other necessary food supplies
- Maintain bakery and production area organization including walk in fridge and freezer

**2. Internal Administration & Communications**
- Ensure that the Cafe Paradise mission, values and policies are communicated, implemented and maintained
- Attend regular Management meetings and ensure all relevant information is cascaded to team
- Ensure that all administration is managed and completed in a timely manner and is compliant with legislation, company processes, procedures and standards
- Meet with the Head Chef on a daily and/or required basis as the Head Chef determines is necessary to discuss any operational aspects of the store
- Organize monthly staff meetings and develop an appropriate agenda
- Strive to advance your knowledge, skills and abilities and consistently share these with others

**3. Safety & Security**
- Maintain daily cleanliness and sanitation of general production, service areas, and equipment
- Ensure safety of employees and guests by following safety practices and reporting procedures, including inspections, relevant follow-ups and incident reports
- Develops policies and procedures to enhance and measure quality
- Continually update written policies and procedures to reflect techniques, equipment and terminology used
- Establish controls to minimize food waste, theft and ensure that products are handled properly
- Ensure food is stored in appropriate containers, labeled, and rotated to ensure standards of freshness
- Conform to Toronto Public Health requirements to run a DineSafe Pass-level kitchen

**4. Facilities & Merchandise Maintenance**
- Check the working condition of all utilities both internally and externally
- Manage all repairs and maintenance and alert Head Chef of any work required
