THE CLOTHES LINE is CONTACT Community Services' social enterprise that collects second hand goods and sells them to the community. By doing this, The Clothes Line helps support CONTACT's other services including our housing and employment supports, volunteerism and seniors programming. Over 80 volunteers support The Clothes Line operations and act as a community hub for affordable clothing and household items for all members of the New Tecumseth and surrounding community.

The role of the Retail Associate will be to assist the manager and staff with all aspects of operations at The Clothes Line. You will work as part of our dynamic team to ensure the store maintains its reputation as a safe and inclusive space for all persons, with a focus on high quality second hand goods and exceptional customer service. The Retail Associate will have an opportunity to build key customer service skills fundamental to the retail industry, as well as be responsible for handling cash and sales, merchandising, and the sorting and handling of donations. The Retail Associate will also help train new volunteers.

Must be available to work some Friday and Saturdays and to cover occasional shifts on other days.

A criminal reference check is required.

Please note: Our organization relies on fundraising activities and events. These events are FUN and are integral to supporting the efforts of our charity. We encourage _all staff_ to help support these efforts by assisting with these activities when available.

- Plan and execute special events such as Potato Fest (with support)
- Identify and implement operational improvements
- Engage in the exchange of ideas to modernize the store through technology and new communication mediums.
- help manage donations
- help to merchandize the store (i.e. summer displays, windows)
- support customers and volunteers with special needs, and/or who are victims of circumstance, and individuals involved with the justice system
- help to maintain a safe and secure work/shopping environment
- assist with social media as required
- Other duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and motivate others
- Attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Collaborative, team player, a good listener
- Some knowledge of social media marketing
- Valid First Aid certification an asset

**SUPERVISION**:
The Retail Associate will be primarily supervised by the Manager and Assistant Manager of The Clothes Line. Strict adherence health and safety policies is critical for this position.
