The Opportunity

Our Canada Gas Operations (CGO) Mainline Operations team is looking to add a Mechanical Specialist based in Kapuskasing or North Bay, ON. Reporting to the Manager, Ops Specialist Mainline, the Mechanical Technologist will focus on Facility Health Assessment (FHA), providing asset integrity support, executing reliability improvement programs and creating asset management value for TC Energy's gas pipeline systems.

To be successful, the Specialist will have turbo machinery systems experience to support the team on an ongoing basis. This position will provide both technical and program management support to the region.
- The regular work schedule for this position will be:_
- Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off_
- Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday_

What you’ll do
- Provide highly skilled technical support to the field teams, engineering and regional management to ensure the safety and reliability of assets
- Provide technical guidance, instruction and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of new equipment / assets in the compression, measurement and pipeline fields
- Subject matter expert (SME) for the maintenance of equipment used for natural gas transportation including analyzing and making recommendations to enhance and add value to applicable preventative maintenance tasks & integrity plans to optimize the reliability and availability of equipment and assets
- Monitor and analyze the performance of the equipment and assets, and make recommendations related to the effectiveness, functionality and/or performance of equipment
- Key Liaison with Engineering, Fleet Management, Asset Reliability, and Project teams within TC Energy
- Perform cost benefit/cost analysis using analytical tools/methods such as Weibull
- Assist Regional stakeholders and planning teams in the development and scheduling of O&M and Capital projects related to regional facilities, (including project identification, work scoping, and work justifications)
- Conduct annual the Facility Health Assessments for Regional Facilities
- Lead/participate in the execution of Root Cause Failure Analysis
- Mentor, coach and support Technicians and Engineers in Training (EIT)
- Initiate lead and rollout of new processes and procedures ensuring implementation meets needs and requirements as well as increasing efficiency and profit. (i.e. Management of Change Process)
- Deliver value through influence of design, construction and operational setup of new assets
- Identify and share best practices. (Investigate and share new processes and procedures, technologies, and opportunities for improving safety, efficiency and reliability, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a 2 or 3 year technical school program or associate degree in engineering technology
- 8 or more years of related experience
- Experienced with the interpretation of technical reference documents
- Strong mechanical / millwright skills to maintain rotating and centrifugal compressor equipment

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Ariel Gas Compressors
- SAP experience
- Solid analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home (25 - 50%)
- This position is overtime eligible based on operational needs, outage support, and response to unplanned events and is part of an on-call rotation
