**JOB SUMMARY**
**SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES**
**Qualifications**
- Preferred post-secondary diploma/degree or equivalent in Social Justice Services and/or a minimum of three (3) years’ work in a social or justice services environment.
- Knowledge of Bail Verification and Supervision Programs in Ontario, of provincial standards for bail verification and supervision, of all relevant legislation, regulations and court procedures governing bail.
- Understanding of the criminal justice system, Indigenous Justice strategies and alternative justice methods.
- Ability to articulate criminal and social justice issues.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on systemic issues.
- Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport with vulnerable individuals.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills; excellent interviewing, counselling, recording and data collection skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines and urgent matters.
- Superior analytical and decision-making skills; ability to problem solve and take initiative.
- Effective crisis intervention skills; ability to provide individual/family counselling.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
- A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and/or Vulnerable Sector Clearance will be a condition of employment.
- Must have a valid Ontario ‘G’ Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
**Training & Professional Development Functions**
- Maintain relevant training and professional development.
- Participate in relevant conferences, training workshops and related courses and meetings for professional development as required or directed.
- Attend workshops, staff meetings, etc., as directed.
- Identify professional development/training needs and bring them to the attention of the Courtworker.
**Health & Safety Requirements Functions**
- Maintain health and safety requirements.
- Observe health, fire and safety regulations; uphold health and safety standards.
- Ensure that the Health and Safety policies incorporated into daily working practices are adhered to.
**Generic Duty Functions**
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the Courtworker.
- Observe and uphold the policies, procedures, and practices of the ONFC.
- Maintain and secure facilities and equipment and ensure confidential client information is secured in a locked filing cabinet or filed electronically on a daily basis.
- Actively promote and participate in community and ONFC annual activities in keeping with the mandate and philosophy of the ONFC.
- Ensure the premises and program resources are safe and secure.
- Work within an Indigenous culturally competent framework.
- Notify the Courtworker immediately of any difficulties including crises or any other issues that may affect the ongoing delivery of the ONFC operations.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**

- Interaction with employees, management, other service providers and the public at large
- Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions
- Travel may be required.
**Physical Demands**
The Bail Supervisor will spend long hours sitting, standing, walking and using office equipment and computers which can cause muscle strain. The worker may have to lift and carry using appropriate lifting techniques, bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics and including walking, sitting, standing and climbing stairs.
**Environmental Conditions**
The Bail Supervisor will be working in the office, remotely, working in the court, and meeting clients externally, and can be occasionally noisy and will need excellent organizational, time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
**Sensory Demands**
Traditional Medicines and healing practices are utilized in ceremonies and circles and are encouraged in programming; these may affect the senses and respiratory system.
**Mental Demands**
The Bail Supervisor must deal with a wide variety of community members, supporters, vendors, and staff, and must provide support and guidance, potentially causing stress. Self-care is strongly encouraged in a supportive role such as this.
