Consulting Inc is looking to fill the role of a Forestry Technician.

The Forestry Technician role is a seasonal field position that will provide support in the field operations service-delivery to our clients. The position, while primarily in the field, is expected to complete some office duties as well. The main office is located in Peterborough, Ontario. The position is expected to commence May, 2023.

FSmith Consulting Inc. offers a comprehensive Health Benefits package, and expected salary for the position will range between $22-$28 hourly.

Duties will include:

- Working independently and as part of a team, primarily providing support to the Silviculture

Operations Coordinator specifically, and FSmith Consulting staff generally.
- Silvicultural Projects - Heavy emphasis on invasive species removal with herbicide during the summer season, tree and forest health operations, and other related projects.
- Forest Data Collection and Reports - Provide field support in the development of related reports and documentation.
- Landowner Relations - Maintain a professional rapport with current and potential clients.
- Travel to various rural and remote locations with occasional overnight stays.
- Open to a wide variety of general labor duties

Qualifications and assets:

- Very strong work ethic with pride in getting the job done right.
- General forestry aptitude and Pesticide Technician certificate an asset.
- Ability to lift and carry between 30 to 50 lbs while maneuvering in the field.
- Experience working in a field operations role, and customer service experience such as service industry considered an asset.
- Familiarity with tree and vegetative species of the GLSL forest.
- Working experience with computers and handheld digital equipment.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Experience operating chainsaws and brush saws along with proper safety precautions.
- Prioritization, time management, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills including both written and oral communication.
- Forestry diploma or degree in progress or completed an asset.
- Valid Ontario Drivers License (G2 or above) or ability to obtain in short order.
- First aid & CPR certification is an asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 5 months

**Salary**: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
