The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting in multiple financial activities relating to Tri-County Mennonite Homes (TCMH) bi-weekly payroll functions. This includes timely and accurate processing of payroll data for TCMH employees. Integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role.

The Payroll Specialist reports directly to the Payroll & Scheduling Manager.
- College or University education preferred;
- Completion of Canadian Payroll Certification preferred;
- Minimum of three (3) years payroll experience for salaried and hourly employees;
- Strong knowledge of computer payroll systems and Microsoft Office;
- Understanding of ESA and union contracts;
- Experience in all year end processing activities (T4s, WSIB, EHT, etc.);
- Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner;
- Effective attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy and able to meet deadlines;
- Possesses good judgement skills and is able to act independently with mínimal supervision;
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure;
- Strong problem solving, organization, and prioritization is required;
- Possesses good oral and written communication skills;
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior management, colleagues, and employees

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Payroll**:

- Assist in the preparation and administration of payroll for all TCMH employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy.
- Ensure that all salaries are paid accurately and in a timely fashion to all TCMH employees.
- Prepare payroll remittances and records of employment.
- Issue ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including all year end processing.
- Take and handle calls arising from questions about payroll.
Implement salary and wage increases in accordance with instructions given
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with TCMH policies and legislative requirements.
- Prepare required union reports as per the collective agreements
- Assist in monitoring holiday and attendance records for the divisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned

**PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS**
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member of Corporate Services.
- Ability to work under the supervision of the Manager of Payroll & Scheduling.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to give effective verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to relate, communicate and co-operate effectively with co-workers, divisional managers and divisional staff.
- Must be able to exhibit maturity, good judgment, patience and flexibility.
- Exhibit and maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, appearance, behaviour and attitude.
