Job Summary

The Technical Lead provides functional and technical leadership within the Integration Enablement Centre (IEC) at UBC IT.

The Technical Lead will work in the Integration Enablement Centre providing technical leadership and completing senior development tasks, starting with a 50 / 50 allocation that will be adjusted per program requirements indicated by reporting manger(s).

Organizational Status

The IEC is a unit within the UBC Information Technology department responsible for linking all systems and data at UBC to enable the University, faculty, researchers, staff, students and partners to have access to properly governed data through well-documented UBC APIs and other appropriate toolsets.

Services are delivered through the use of Information Technology best practices and customer focused processes to enable stakeholders to achieve UBC objectives.

The Technical Lead, IEC, reports to the Senior Manager, IEC, and works closely with the other managers in UBC IT and the Office of the CIO, UBC IT personnel, technology professionals across the UBC community, campus stakeholders, vendors, and external institutions. The DAF component of this role supports the overall Program Delivery Portfolio, including IRP, RPA, and Capital Projects

Work Performed
- Provides technical direction and leadership to the IEC team members, including guidance on troubleshooting for complex integration and critical implementations y in compliance with Data Governance and Sustainment practices, throughout the SDLC.
- Works with business partners and/or leadership to understand ongoing issues with the delivered projects, of a major functional area with multiple lines of service.
- Develops integrated strategies, operating plans, targets and measures for a major functional area and leads the day to day delivery of its services, programs and activities.
- Develops and implements innovative services, business solutions, and programs, provides technical leadership and oversight on projects, and collaborates with others on integrated solutions and initiatives across other administrative/academic units.
- Work with the management to assess iteam members’ strengths to assist with the prioritization of technical implementations that also align with organizational objectives and priorities in other workstreams / domains throughout the Program Delivery portfolio, including IRP, RPA, and Capital Projects.
- Provides technical guidance on how incorporate the Data Access Framework (DAF) into successful completion ofprojects and implementations, scheduling, assignment of work, review of project efforts and resolution of post-production issues as required
- Continually assesses the roadmap for DAF for viability and to assist Sr management with prioritization of projects and implementations upon assessing program-wide impacts cross-domain.
- Provides technical guidance on the successful completion of projects and implementations, including thorough testing, release planning, scheduling, assignment of work, review of project efforts and resolution of post-production issues as required for PHUB and other workstreams as required.
- Continually assesses the roadmap, for PHUB and other workstreams, for viability and to assist management with prioritization of tasks
- Completes hands-on development work required for complex projects at a senior level, wherever required.
- Applies modern approaches to the design, development, implementation, and support of integrations at UBC.
- Onboard new team members by training them on the integration patterns, core IEC services including DAF and PHUB, and ensuring that they have relevant access to perform their job duties.
