Student Quantity Surveyor
What You’ll Be Working On
Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment.
We are seeking a student to join us for a 4-month co-op position starting in September, 2024 This position will be based out of Vancouver, BC.
**Responsibilities**:
- Performs site physical progress measurement, including verification and validation of quantities.
- Assist in the review and agreement of monthly progress billings with the client.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly reports: value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow and budget.
- Reconcile individual tender packages, cash allowances and time and materials scopes of work.
- Assist with risk and value management to optimise solution. Monitor and regularly review with the project team.
- Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
- Assist with management, evaluation and certification of variations/change orders.
- Ensure all notifications/documents are managed in accordance with the contract, and customer / company policy.
- Liaise with site team, subcontractors and customers’ representatives.
- Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
- Prepare costs code information for the project teams use.
Who We Need On Our Team
- You are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent program
- You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships

- Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries
- If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
