**Private Tutor**

S.M.A.R.T. Tutoring and Test Preparation Services - Barrie, ON and surrounding areas

**Definition of Duties**:

- Objective-based tutoring for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6

Provide schoolwork support, instruction of lessons, and applicable learning activities including study strategies and/ or test preparation

Undertake to prepare prior to scheduled sessions and to structure the sessions in such a way as to optimize time to benefit the student

Assist students in understanding concepts, processes, and structures
- Administration

Schedule and attend monthly Team Meetings
- Role Modelling

Be on time for scheduled sessions

Maintain a professional relationship with clients and community members

Treat students, parents, and the learning environment with respect

Be sensitive to students’ knowledge and capabilities

Encourage confidence in students who are experiencing difficulty and who may feel overwhelmed and stressed

Model good study habits and practice the highest professional standard of confidentiality, accuracy, resourcefulness, communication, preparation, documentation, appearance, and conduct with clients and administration of S.M.A.R.T. Tutoring and Test Preparation Services

Maintain confidentiality of students’ personal information and the business operations of S.M.A.R.T. Tutoring and Test Preparation Services

**Required Education & Experience**:
Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching certificate

Working knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum. OCT Certification and Additional Teaching Qualifications an asset.

Professional tutoring and/ or teaching experience is preferred. Experience working with students who have diverse learning abilities and styles is an asset.

**Locations**:
Tutoring service is offered in student’s home with parent/guardian present.

Multiple positions are available in Barrie, ON and surrounding areas.

**Scheduling**:
Tutors create their own schedules and work 5-10 hours per week.

Tutoring typically happens Monday - Friday (September - June) 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Summer Review/ Preview Sessions (July - August) 9:00 am - 8:00 pm

Applicants must be available to start immediately and be able to commit their time until the end of the 2024/ 2025 school year (June 30, 2025).

Rate: $25 - $32 per 50-minute session

Term of Employment: Sub-Contract

Required:
Completed education and demonstrated relevant professional experience

Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check (upon hire)

Minimum availability of five hours per week

Reliable transportation

Demonstrated documentation skills and time management

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 5 per week
