Duties:

- Oversee the daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring that meals are prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner.
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of dietary staff, including cooks, food service workers, and kitchen assistants.
- Plan menus and ensure that meals are nutritionally balanced and meet the dietary needs of residents or patients.
- Monitor food preparation to ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
- Order food and supplies, and maintain inventory levels to ensure adequate stock.
- Train new staff members on proper food handling and preparation techniques.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as nursing or therapy, to address dietary concerns or special dietary requirements.
- Maintain records of food production, inventory, and other relevant documentation.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a supervisory role within a dietary department or food service setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, nutrition guidelines, and safe food handling practices.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, residents/patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional culinary or dietary certifications are a plus.

Licence/Certification:

- Food Handler Certification (preferred)
- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (required)
