This opportunity relates to the **ESAP Project**, in modernization of the heating and cooling energy distribution systems to over 80 buildings in the National Capital Region. The ESAP project involves design and construction of four new central heating and cooling plants plus associated distribution piping networks over a period of five years, under a Joint Venture Partnership with another leading major Contractor. Black and McDonald is responsible for the **design and construction of the mechanical and electrical work across the project.**

The Project Manager is in Ottawa, Ontario, and reports directly to the Project Director. The Construction Project Manager will **plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction** projects according to schedule, specifications and budget.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Manage and **provide scheduling, planning, organizing of labour**, subcontractors and materials
- Ensure company safety policy is adhered to on all projects
- Liaison with project owners, architects and engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, and tradespersons
- Monitor and increase labour productivity
- Responsible for Cost forecasting
- Represent company in project meetings and **attend strategy meetings**
- Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies

**EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- Degree or diploma in construction management or engineering and/or trade qualification or equivalent field experience
- 10+ years' experience in the construction industry, preferably in **MEP**:

- ** Experience in piping and trenching projects** is considered a strong asset

**LEADERSHIP CONTEXT**
- Approximately 5 direct reports (e.g., Project Coordinator, Field Technician)
- Approximately 10-20 indirect reports (e.g., subcontractors, corporate services, etc)

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS**

Advance knowledge and understanding of:

- Contract management
- Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
- Established mechanical practices, procedures, and techniques
- Applicable local and provincial labour codes
- Managing / leading union staff
- Business operations processes
- Organization and time management
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
