The Ministry of Children and Family Development promotes and develops the capacity of families and communities to care for and protect vulnerable children and youth and supports healthy child and family development to maximize the potential of every child in BC. The Ministry is responsible for regional and province wide delivery of services and programs that support positive and healthy outcomes for children, youth and their families.

The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre is a program of Provincial Services Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Maples is a designated provincial mental health facility providing on-site, community, outreach, and ancillary services to collaboratively support youth, families, and communities. The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre works with youth in British Columbia with significant psychiatric and behavioural difficulties, ages 12 to 17, as well as youth found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or unfit to stand trial. Additional services include community consultation service, training/capacity building opportunities and ongoing sharing of current literature. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, our objective is to collaboratively enhance the capacity of communities to plan and care for challenging youth through a closer to home focus.

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology or Child and Youth Care, or equivalent field of study.
- Experience working in child and youth mental health services.

Proviso
- Exposure to regular travel in remote locations.
- May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.
- Opportunity to work with families facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant dealings with angry, abusive, or abused clients; exposure to hazards from frequently working around volatile parents and/or children in crisis.
