**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Inspect loads to prohibit the disposal of unacceptable waste, according to government regulations, and direct waste and recyclables to their designated locations.
- Monitor all landfill site activities during regular operating hours.
- Maintain positive relations with the public, contractors, and other staff and respond to inquiries as required.
- Communicate electronically with supervisor and other M.D. staff.
- Advise supervisor of any requirements for maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain the burning of clean wood waste when required.
- Remove contaminants and other waste from recycling areas.
- Clear snow and manage ice around the landfill office, transtor pads both top and bottom, and waste and recycling bins.
- Organize and sort electronics, paint, and hazardous and special products (HHW) at their respective recycling areas.
- Assist the public to unload and stack mattresses.
- Maintain a presentable worksite by collecting loose litter, ensuring recyclables and burnable materials are disposed of and kept in their designated locations, and roadways are clear of debris.
- Use a magnet sweep to remove nails and other metal from burn cell areas.
- Assist the operations team with the pumping of run-off water and/or leachate as required.

**Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent preferable.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to work alone without supervision.
- ATV/UTV operator certification or experience is considered an asset.
- Hazardous and Special Products (HHW) handling certification is considered an asset.
