Supervisor, Garage

Located in Greenfield, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Freeman Lumber is a state-of-the-art sawmill manufacturing facility. Freeman Lumber is in one of the oldest family-run sawmill businesses in North America. The Freeman family has operated mills in Greenfield, Nova Scotia since 1830. The family-owned business has continuously invested in the latest technologies to remain on the cutting edge.

We are currently looking for a Garage Supervisor who will oversee the day-to-day operation of garage. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, your day will be focused on providing the leadership that will enable your team to do their best work. You are someone who is mechanically inclined and able to lead a team of individuals who are like minded. You have a safety-first approach, foster teamwork and collaboration within your team.

As a working supervisor, the day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Working with the team on inspections, maintenance, repairs and servicing of equipment - including engines, drive trains, hydraulics, brakes and cooling & lubrication systems
- Providing leadership to the team through planning, organizing and directing day-to-day work activities
- Planning, directing, and controlling preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure limited down time of equipment
- Ensuring compliance to safety, accident prevention, environmental regulations, and other regulatory standards
- Maintaining accurate online maintenance records
- Maintaining stock ordering and inventory levels

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Capable of demonstrating leadership skills and have the ability to organize work
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and promote a safe working environment in accordance with our safety policies
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Proven experience working with MS Office
- Lead and work effectively as part of a team
- Work well under pressure
- Detail-oriented, thorough and accurate
- Communicate effectively

**Education & Work Experience**:

- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in an industrial maintenance and/or manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 3+ years supervisory experience

**Relocation**:
Relocation assistance maybe provided as required. A shared company house is available close to the mill location.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
