**Summary**:
- The Electromyography (EMG) Technologist will conduct nerve conduction studies (NCS), repetitive nerve stimulation and assist with needle EMG, when applicable, for the evaluating physician.
**Duties/Responsibilities**:
- Collect patients’ medical information needed to customize studies.
- Explain testing procedures to patients, answers patients’ questions and reassure patients as needed.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot and/or repair equipment and correct equipment malfunctions.
- Set up, program and record montages or electrical combinations when testing peripheral nerves and the spinal cord.
- Triage incoming referrals.
- Keep track of relevant EMG stock and ordering electrodes, needles, and other equipment.
- EMG room cleaning and maintenance.
**Required Skills/Abilities**:
- Strong knowledge of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal medical terminology.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze test results.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
**Education and Experience**:
- Preferred to be Certified or eligible for certification through the Association of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (AETC), American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM) or American Association of Electromyography Technologists (AAET).
- 2-3 years of related experience preferred but not required.
