Katzie First Nation is searching for a detail-oriented professional to join our Finance Team for approximately 12 months. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the **Financial Analyst** is a hands-on role responsible for the monthly balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses while acting as the financial business partner for the Territorial Guardianship and Referrals Department. The FBP responsibilities include a larger scope of financial support in addition to General Accountant responsibilities, which include departmental budgeting & actual variance analysis, expense tracking, invoicing, and reporting. Ideally, you excel at leading your day-to-day tasks but are also flexible when different needs and priorities arise throughout the day.

**What you will be responsible for**:
**General Accountant (50%)**
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for KFN and all entities using the Bank Rec module in Adagio.
- Monitor budgets of all programs and provide variances reports.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Balance Sheet reconciliations and other general accounting duties.
- Assist in developing or implementing financial policies, procedures, or processes to ensure conformity to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Public Sector Accounting Standards.
- Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Other duties as directed by the Finance Manager
**Finance Business Partner (50%)**
- Auditing and transitioning Referrals & Territorial Guardianship finance tracking into the organizational finance tracking system
- Supporting the tracking of revenue and expenses on multiple budgets and grants, including regular invoicing, reporting, contract spending, etc.
- Regular quality assurance and control of budgets to ensure that charges are in the appropriate accounts.
- Working with the department to establish departmental financial guidelines and processes.
- Working with the department administration to establish a departmental financial management system to account for 5-10-year departmental budget planning, forecasting, and investment of departmental source revenue.
**General**
- Cross-training within the finance department to provide support and additional capacity when needed.
- Create/maintain/update processes and procedures.
**What you bring to the position**:
- Knowledge gained through completing a degree in finance or a related field, plus three years of relevant, progressive work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- CPA designation or working towards CPA designation is required.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards, tax laws, and First Nation reporting requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Adagio or other ERP systems is an asset.
- Experience with Grant funding preferred.
- Attention to detail and excellent time management skills to manage work in an efficient and timely manner and provide high-quality work.
- Experience developing strong working relationships with all business units and department leaders while assisting them in achieving strategic and financial priorities.
- Flexibility and the ability to handle a diverse and complex workload respectfully, timely, and effectively responding to requests and queries.
- Ability to work independently, work with others, and contribute to a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and direct people with varying backgrounds and levels of expertise.
- Uphold integrity and confidentiality of all information seen, heard, or obtained in the role.
